I have a P226 and have shot a SP-01. The trigger reset on the SP-01 is a lot shorter, though you can get some P226 models with a short reset trigger. I find the single action in the SP-01 is also a little nicer. There also seems to be more after market parts for CZ as well. That being said I love the way the P226 feels in my hand and imho the fit and finish on the Sig is nicer. So I guess its all personal preference. Just my 2 cents.
SIG has a better finish than CZ is for sure. CZ is cheaper. Both are sweet pistol and mostly fit a larger hand. if I have to chose one of them, I will jump on a SP01 in no time.
You might have added what you are going to use the gun for. For playing IDPA/IPSC the CZ SP-01 hands down. For plinking at the range once in awhile both will do. For playing tactical with leg holsters etc the Sig 226 would be cool. For private contract work in Iraq- Glock/M&P.
The 226 IMHO has few peers as a service weapon. For playing the games, as above, there are a number of pistols I would choose before the Sig.
SP01 is a great gun, I prefer it to a Sig. The grip is just better contoured and the whole gun is a bit slimmer. Also the grips on the SP01 allow for the user to grab the gun higher up to better control recoil. The trigger on the CZ also feels smoother.
The SP-01 is a solid gun, you can't go wrong. Sig is great too, but costs quite a bit more.
I made the mistake of buying an SP-01 based on all the hype that I've read on this board and elsewhere. I will probably get flamed for saying this, but the it was a big disappointment. Fit and finish left much to be desired and the gun had extraction issues (sending empty cases in the shooter's face). I returned it and subsequently bought a Sig P226. In my humble opinion, Sig is superior to CZ in just about every dimension and is one of the best 9mm guns out there.
The sig 226 is a very nice pistol and is made to stand up to some pretty rigerous use. I know many of the people i work with love their sigs and find them a superior combat pistol (mind you its payed for by our tax dollars.)
I own an sp01 and i love it. Deadly accurate... fits the hand.. low low recoil, and you can do some other fun little tricks with it if you know the right people.
As said before... if trying to be tacticool go for the sig... if your looking for something you can have some serious fun with.. go for the sp01. Either is a good choice.
