Legal :).... BUT.....

This is an e-mail to me from Phil from Vince Pinto (IPSC Handgun Rules Committee):

Ron,

I have done a little more home work and my view has changed based on the following reply I got from Vince Pinto (IPSC Handgun Rules Committee):

Hi Phil,

I’ve just been informed by CZUB that although many models are fitted with plastic guide rods (which they also say are more reliable), the metal guide made by CZUB rods are approved by CZUB as optional parts for all of their models.

Therefore, if a metal guide rod being offered is actually produced by CZUB, it can be used in any CZUB model, provided it only requires minor detailing, for fitting.

Hope this clarifies.

Cheers,
Vince

So there is the official word.

SS guide rod manufactured by CZUB (Czech not USA) may be used in any CZUB model.

Phil

Seeing that CRAFM is the Official CZ Warranty Center for Canada I can only see them stocking the OEM CZ SS Guide Rod.

So in my case... CZ SS Guide Rod installed in my Czech made CZ SP-01 Shadow = Production Legal.

***Please note that through out all my post in another thread I have alway refers it as a CZ SS Guide Rod and not just any ss guide rod.

...because one can tell the difference between an aftermarket one and the oem version....
I'm sure glad someone like Vince has the time to make up absurd rules that can't be enforced.

Vince isn't making up any absurd rules. Its in the rule book. No aftermarket parts. My SS guide rod was purchased from Milan in CZ when I saw him at the CZ Open. It is identical to the ones Angus sells. So likely, he makes them, sells them to CZ and they resell them as official parts.

Perhaps you are correct

Its in the rule book. No aftermarket parts.

That doesn't change the fact it is a little silly to disallow one part over the next that are otherwise identical - especially if it is next to impossible to discern.
IMHO they should stick to performance based, quantitative limits.
It is good for the sport and good for the industry that supports it.
Sorry, I don't normally b!tch about IPSC rules so I'll leave it at that.

it might be silly (sort of agree), but the rules are pretty black and white. If they start allowing custom parts, then it opens the door wide open.

Slavex the difficuluty you have is some parts come from suppliers other than the manufacturer of the pistols. For years Vince was hung up on springs other than OEM springs yet I am told by Angus CZ doesn't make it's own springs and never has. I don't believe they make their own mags either. I believe Megar is the manufacturer. I would bet money Angus makes the steel rods for CZ. Like someone else has stated how can you tell?

Take Care

I've inspected a ton of Glocks over the years, and know most of the top shooters who use Glocks, have yet to see a single trigger stop block. Not to say some don't use it, and I'm sure they feel awesome cheating and getting away with it.
It's most likely that Angus does make CZ's SS guiderods, and there is nothing wrong with that either. Same as CZ maybe buying springs from Wolffe Springs, and maybe even MecGar mags. The key point is if it comes from the factory in factory packaging when you buy it. If it does, it's factory parts.

this is along the same lines as a question I had about tanfoglio mags in my stock 2. I wanted to use small frame mags with henning mag pads,..but was told that it was a no go,.....UNLESS I used Jericho or Baby desert eagle mags,...or Bul Storm mags (which all have the little triangle with a T in them),..they are tanfoglio mags. My smart ass answer was ," it is a good thing I only have baby desert eagle mags:p"

I care not which mags are used in any production gun,..nor the springs, nor the guide rod,...as IMHO,...it makes no difference,...and nearly impossible to enforce.
