I have just bought a new CZ452 leftie 22. The wood is very plain looking but is billed as Turkish Walnut. I have looked at some sites on the web for this wood but all I see is fairly figured wood. Is it likely that a plain piece may have been used for my stock. Looks more like beech and scraped some of the finish off of the inside cutouts and it is blond almost gold colour. I know that not all walnut is figured but has at least a little grain character. Anyone had any experience with this wood. Saw several rifles in the same shipment in the store supposedly with the same wood but all were fairly well figured.Wondering if they subbed with a beech stock...

Beechwood only comes on certain models, as I understand it. And I don't believe any of their lefty models are among them, but I could be mistaken. But as I also understand it, it is a crapshoot as to the asthetics of the wood with CZ's stuff. Some look good, some look great, some are ok, some are blah.
You should try to hand pick your rifle to select the best wood if possible. Sometimes you get it, some times you don't. Mine is very straight grained, with a little colour to the butt-stock. That's ok. It's not the figure of the wood that will put 5 shot's into one ragged hole. 
They only got one leftie in so that kinda nailed it. The others in rightie stock looked pretty nice but no good for me. Still it is very nicely checkered and it is a real nice fit both for me and the rifle. They do nice work for sure. Just not familiar with this wood and not sure what to expect. Ok if it is a plain jane long as nobody is pulling a fast one. Could very well be Turkish Walnut as I dont know what plain is in that species, only worked with American species. Thanks guys.
