After a long wait my Leupold 3-9x33mm EFR scope arrived. I mounted it, bore sighted it and headed out to the backyard. After a few adjustments I was able to shoot this group. I was shooting 5 shots/group at 34yds. So far I am very happy. I look forward to putting a lot of rounds through this gun. I was using Remington subsonic .22LR hollow points.

I just wish that someone localy would have them in stock. I was looking to get one myself but no luck yet.
 
They are very nice guns. I have an American and really like it. The bolt needed some polishing to get it smooth and snag free and I snipped a coil off the trigger spring to get it as light as I like. After that, its a gopher killing machine. I can get 5 rounds of American Eagle 38 gr into .45" at 50 yards. That's the best shooting ammo I've found for my gun, including much more expensive target ammo.

Haha. No matches for me. I do love shooting this gun. I bought it mainly for getting rid of critters that steal bulbs from the wifes flower beds. So far one for one:D.
It's nice to shoot in the backyard. I don't draw any attention using subsonics.
I wonder if different brands/rounds would be more accurate?
I am thinking about trying it off of a good rest instead of using the bi-pod.

If you don't mind ordering online or over the phone you could probably find one. Mine came from out west and arrived in one business week. I am in south eastern Ontario.
 
I just tested my new CZ453 Varmint in .22

Simmans AO 3-9X rimfire scope.

At 50 yards, using shooting bag as rest I got a 5 shot group about .75" with 4 going into one ragged elongated hole.

Interestingly I had cleaned the gun with Wipeout, and it took about 10 rounds making large patterns before the groups tightened up.
 
The after cleaning worsening of groups occurs on my two 22's as well. There is even some effect of changing ammunition type and it taking some rounds for it to settle down into a tight group again.
 
i was out shooting possums and rabbits with a 452, 2 weeks ago, never missed a beat, even out to 100 meters , at night under a spotlight, we were still knocking the beggars out of the trees ( the possums .. if i ever see a rabbit in a tree ill take a picture before i shoot )

IIRC, Lapua Super Club is a subsonic load (or at least they sound like it :D). They (along with Eley stuff) shoot 1-hole 5-shot groups @ 50 yards in my 452 American, with a cheap Tasco 6-24x scope. :sniper:

alot of the shooters at my local smallbore club keep their ammo in wax blocks,

told by them it helps lubricate the barrel and aid in keeping it cleaner for longer .. myth maybe , but they all do it and one of them is our national champ

Honestly, I don't consider the trigger that good. It is sloppy and does not break clean. I would compare it to my pump Remington .30-06, with less pull weight. I am used to my Sako 75 trigger with a pull weight of less than 3lbs and no creep. I am fortunate that Eagleye advised me on a trigger kit and I will be ordering one. It is inexpensive and easy to install. Thanks Eagleye!
