CZ455 aftermarket barrels.

If ya want a Lilja, Alberta Tactical can import one for you and it'll be delivered in a couple of weeks. Expect about $850 with today's exchange rate. Personally, I'd hold off on a Lilja until they've completed their re-designed pilot run of 455 barrels and make a production decision on it. I'm getting one of those Liljas, so you'll get an opinion from me about them. It'll be a few months before its made and arrives here. It's going to cost me about $650, and I'm importing it through Prophet River's service as it saves me money Vs. Alberta Tactical. Mainly because this way, I pay Lilja direct so no sales tax, compared to paying the full price to Alberta Tactical and adding sales tax to the full price. There is a 2-3 month wait on import with Prophet River (permit approval time).

Any other barrel you can think of in the States can be easily brought in through Prophet River. Cost is purchase price from American seller, then about $100 to PR for the import fee and shipping to you plus tax. Wait 2-3 months, barrel arrives. No problem! :) Aside from the Killough's barrel (made from a Shilen blank) no other barrel than Lilja will be a "drop-in". That means you gotta consider a gunsmith to cut, crown, fit and chamber the barrel to your action. If you are able to measure a couple parts with a depth micrometer, I can refer you to a gunsmith Stateside who can perform the mentioned gunsmith work before the barrel is sent to you. He currently has straight 0.9" Shilen blanks on hand, and expects some Benchmark blanks in a few months. Then you just have to attach it to your action, "glue in" with Loctite retaining compound is easy to DIY.

I'm working on developing a Canadian made barrel option, I'm still waiting several months before work on that can begin. That would be someone you could send your action to, and he'd be able to make and fit a barrel to it.

I am waiting for my first CZ, a 455 Canadian Exclusive in 22 Mag and considering about getting a 17 HMR bbl.
I will wait till I get the first one until adding another bbl. It seems it could be an excuse to get another rifle.

Waiting impatiently for the 22 Mag.

:agree: Total the cost of a CZ 455 plus the aftermarket barrel & you could buy a 64 action Anschutz & be way ahead.

yah, oh well. Prophet river had no tax and free shipping so I jumped on a 455 American synthetic. I was wondering about turning it into something. Don't think that will happen. Will just keep it as a "fun/working" gun.

I am not knocking the CZ, they are indeed a fun gun but I still think the aftermarket barrel is hard to justify when the overall cost is considered.

Indeed. But where does it end? I think sometimes if I find myself needing a barrel better than an Anschutz, I've gone to the next world. There I might be a better shot.:d

I'm not sure, lol. Not all Annie barrels shoot the hair off a gnats delicate area, ya know. In just a few shooting sessions, I've found my Weatherby XXII re-fitted with the 1416 barrel to outperform my pictured MSR with it's factory barrel. I am eager to see the results of my current build projects. There are certainly cases where you'd be spending a whole lot of money to improve the performance you're getting with a factory Anschütz, and the tangible improvement is going to be relatively small.

That picture is so hysterically accurate.

I haven't even shot my rifle yet, it may do just fine with the regular sporter barrel.

Gota find the ammo it likes, then the lot number. Then order 1000's of that lot # lol

The sporter barrel will likely not slow you down in any way in terms of accuracy. In a rifle with a sporter stock, it doesn't usually make a measurable difference for all but the most serious shooters. As for ammo, if you want accuracy try SK Standard Plus, which almost always shoots well with CZ rifles. Don't worry about lot testing just yet. The picture posted by Rabid covers lot testing, too. When you are shooting BR with a dedicated rig and counting small fractions of an inch in terms of accuracy differences, then take the time to lot test. Until then, buy SK Standard Plus -- or Lapua Center-X if you don't mind a little more cost -- and enjoy shooting.

A great many shooters who go through a lot of ammo order it online as it can be expensive buying by the box at a local shop. Order a few bricks at a time and you can save money and get the ammo that you want. For example, SK Standard Plus is $64.50 per brick at site sponsor Nordic Marksman. There are other dealers from whom to buy as well, with several in Ontario.
