CZ455 Varmint Rimfire Scope Bushnell AR 2-7x32 vs. Nikon P-Rimfire 2-7x32

Hey Guys,

I am purchasing my first .22LR rimfire rifle soon and have it down to two scopes:

The Bushnell AR 2-7x32 seen here:

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with either optic and if they had any other recommendations. I am looking for a rimfire scope with exposed turrets and a BDC reticle and hopefully under 500.

As has been mentioned before, opinions are like ###holes, everybody has one. Here's mine. Why limit yourself to 7x? Do a little searching and find a suitable scope of at least 12x max. When you use it at a lower power it will be brighter than a lesser scope maxed out. Shooting offhand, 4-5 x is good, if you're using bi-pod or sticks the extra power will come in handy.
 
Can't go wrong with a 2-7x32 with a BDC if your only objective is hunting and shooting at cans. If you get 2-7 with a fine duplex reticle you will be able to add some "fun" target shooting up to 50 yd. Just like Metalbender said everyone has an opinion....IMO, 3-9 is really kind of in between for a 22LR...3x is too much for hunting in the bush and 9 is not enough for a decent day at the range if you are planning to explore the capability of your new CZ.
 
I can probably be accused of having tunnel vision when it comes to scopes. No bush in my gopher shooting. Out in the field, I use a Caldwell Chair pod with it's built in rest. Any target shooting is done with a heavy home built rest. All my gopher shooting guns except the BMR have scopes 12-24 max with AO. The little Buckmark rifle has a Weaver 3-9AO classic. Target Anschutz wears a Mueller 8-32. Old eyes really need a little more help.
 
I like the AR22 I put on my ZKM 452, 2x7 suits my needs as a do-all compromise but I can appreciate the votes for higher power for longer range precision.
There is one thing I'd like to point out regarding my scope choice--- the AR22 has quite a large eyepiece and must mount fairly high to accommodate the bolt handle throw of the BRNO/CZ rifles. I can live with it and am more than satisfied with my choice but the overall ergonomics are important to consider.

On the Varmint I'd go with a higher magnification scope. If you were getting an American or Standard and planned to be walking with it, then I'd go with the 2-7.
