Finally broke down and figured I needed one.
The spare scope available was a Bushnell 6-24 AO.
At 100 yards with CCI MaxiMags 40 grain bullets had four shots under one inch and the fifth made it over one inch.
Last week at 100 metres, the same bullet ran vertical to about 3" and the velocity variation was 150 fps.
Bought some 50 grain Federal so will try that today.
What are you using and the results?

I hardly ever shoot 22 WMR, but I do have a couple. One 455 I have shot so nicely, it even impressed my dead-eye buddy. We had to fiddle with the action screws to get it to settle down. I went out and bought a FAT WRENCH after that.

my cz 452 varmint like those cci 50 grain bullets. they sure drop at 100 yards compared to the 30-grain bullets.

The Federal 50 grain was definitely more accurate that the 40 grain MaxiMags
About 10 inches drop at 100 yards versus the 40 grain bullets previously sighted in for that distance.

My old Marlin likes the 40 gr Winchester JHP--shoots them to 1.5" at 100m most days if I don't drink too much coffee! My son's CZ457 likes the Hornady Vmax, can't remember bullet weight--30gr I think.

I sighted my 457 in with Hornady 30 grain. When I switched to 50 grain Federals was gobsmacked at the drop. Shouldn't have been, but I was.

From what I've heard and seen, 22wmr isnt a very precise round. This is probably more about how we only have 3 options vs something to do with the physics of the calibers.

Have a Marlin with the micro groove barrel, and I figured the CCI Maxi Mag would be the gold standard. Turns out they were not very well liked in my rifle.

My rifle likes the Winchester Super X, and the Federal 50 gr. I hear the micro groove barrel is a little bigger bore than conventional rifled and the Federal is slightly bigger also.

I don't recall what kind of groups I was getting, but just narrowing down what it liked.
