CZ457 MTR scope: SFP ?

I've had a a CZ457 MTR sitting in the safe since Dec 2020 (wow time flies). I finally have a bit more free time and would like to start shooting more 22LR. Mainly just shooting at paper informally. I think there are PRS matches locally but I don't think I have the time to commit to that yet even though it looks quite fun. I have a LOT of CCI SV to blow through. I'm not at the point of buying match 22LR ammo yet.

I have a new minox ZE5.2 5-25x56 that has been sitting for about the same amount of time. It's a SFP scope with a german no4a reticle. Anything glaringly wrong with using a SFP hunting type scope like that for 22lr target shooting ?

For target shooting no. For prs style matches yes.
 
It all depends on what sort of accuracy you Want. Unless you just bought the MTR 'cause it was a good deal, you likely want to get some level of accuracy. If only at 50 or less, SFP would be OK to keep under 1" if your glass is good. All my 'good' 22s have FFP, from my Sav B-22 with a Covenant 6-24x50 FFP up to my CZ VMTR with an Athlon 8-34x56 FFP. On Good Days I can keep around 1/2 " groups.
The CCI-SV is good 'practice' ammo and I can get under 1" with practice using that. When I can afford it I prefer 'better' ammo.
PS - I, too, needed a cheek riser and like to use a shooting rest/base.
 
My CCISV experience with a T1X was 44 ten shot groups at 100 averaged out to 1.74” Center to Center. This was over about 6 months. I did not exclude any 10 shot groups at 100 that I shot during that time. Several over 2” I could have tossed and really helped the average.

They used to be under $700 new. The glass is quite good, IMO not far from the minox zp5.

For paper punching it’s fine. For prs you will have to keep the scope at the designated magnification for your reticle to be accurate for holds. I don’t know what that magnification is for that scope. SFP scopes generally are not used because your hold over/wind hold won’t be right unless you are at that set magnification.

PRS is pile of fun. You should try it even if it’s just for fun.
 
Update: both the ze5.2 and zp5 only parallax down to 50 yards so not ideal for rimfire despite being a great scope optically.

What good quality scopes are people using for Rimfire ? Approx 1.5k max, can be used.

I briefly had a Bushnell elite tactical 6-24x50 I got on a trade and was not a fan of the whiteout it would get.
 
Got 2 Delta Javelin, one of each available reticle in mills, one on my MTR, the other on my T1X UPR, very clear image and see my .22 hole up to 200 meters, full metal, no plastic part, audible and tactile clic, actually going to buy a Delta Stryker for my new to me Anschutz…..
 
Seen numerous Athlons at 22 matches around here BC
But, if you can get a clear picture @ 50, you're good for ~95+% of the 22 shooting on steel, or even Bencrest which is usually 50 and 100
maybe get ahold of Mike and the guys putting on the matches out there and go for a visit
