Is there a better 22 platform then a 457?

Most reliable feeding with no adjustments required.

Can be trued and threaded for best accuracy.

Something you can build up slowly.

Very good aftermarket support (similar aftermarket support as a Rem 700 SA).

cz457 is an absolute champion in terms of cost/performance/reliability!
I am a huge fan of this platform.

I have/had a Bergara B14r, Deuce, Vudoo V22, and a bunch of garbage rifles, so I have a few to compare with. cz457 is king! I am getting one of my 457s action threaded and mounting a heavy contour barrel... the job is not cheap... this is how much I believe in cz457 platform!

Bergara BMR is my fav, 457 2nd ... I have both; and both top. They both shoot the same and with same SK 22 ammo. I take turns competing with them - same performance + was similar price.

"Better" is subjective of course, but basically...the 457 is awfully hard to beat when you stack-up the features/build quality for the price. I best most people would say that's always been the case with CZ, BRNO before that.

I prefer shooting my Tikka T1x, but the use of the word "platform" suggests customization might be in the plans? If so, the 457 has the T1x beat hands-down when it comes to barrel swapping for instance. It's also been my experience that not everyone I've met who's swapped a barrel on an (already good) 22 really did the work of understanding what their factory barrels were capable of.

You can say that again! I bought a brand-new CZUB 20 1/2" threaded varmint barrel from a guy who never put a round through it. It was a night and day improvement over the CZ 455 Super-match barrel that I replaced. Chamber is so tight, it took way too much force to close the bolt so I had to shim the barrel Tennon by 0.0015", now it closes with slightly more force that if I am dry cycling. It gives me the odd sub MOA 10 shot group at 100 yards; usually more like an inch and a quarter.

I sure hope the $600 barrel that they put on their rifle shoots as well as mine does. LOL

Tikka's are no joke. Just the purchase price if you were to build one out is a bit more to start with then the base cz.

The CZ 457 MTR is a beast. After 1 match 4 yrs ago I put in into an ACC, added some weight to the front end and it has been competing and winning against custom builds ever since. I’m really happy with how reliable it is. It had never failed me. The aftermarket support is amazing too. Lately I have been thinking about getting the action threaded so I can run a longer/heavy barrel for better balance but the factory barrel shoots so well I’m hesitant to change.
