Cz550

I have one in 416 Rigby, I have the same problem with the stock fit, the thing pounds me dizzy. I have an older CZ in 450 Ackley that is a sweet heart to shoot, so the cartridge isn't the problem. I am stubborn, I will probably restock the beast in something a little kinder.

My opinion is that CZ quality has gone a bit spotty, my latest is a full stocked 6.5X55, and it does not compare well to the older CZs in the stable.

Were you getting the same effect standing.?

The recoil offhand is of course way less than at the bench, but in any position it's more than, say, my model 700 .375 in the same position.

If you set a CZ550 down next to most any typical rifle with an "American" style stock, you can easily see how much more angled the butt plate on the Czech gun is. I have to assume that that top corner (heel) is therefore driving first and hardest into my shoulder. It also feels like the CZ has more muzzle rise, as the gun is sort of pole-vaulting up on my shoulder as opposed to coming straight back.

But, dammit, I just love the look of that Euro-style stock!:)

Well, just because I'm transparent doesn't mean it won't work.;) I'm hoping to see one of those "For sale, like new CZ .458 Lott, comes with 19 factory cartridges and one empty" ads. :dancingbanana: Might work.

Maybe...but if you see two, I get the second ;)
