Does anyone use the Tac Sport in .40 for Std?

If so how do you like it?

I was asked this question today and have no answer. I did see them at CRAFM last weekend and they look ###y. Specially all dolled up But I have never fired one.

I have used one and was very impressed. If I did not already have an SVI, I would use one. For anyone starting out in standard they should take a look at one. Reasonable priced. Good trigger from the factory. The new ones that are being made now are even better.

CZ TS is very popular entry to Standard Division in Europe. It is a great gun but I would advice a newbie to go with STI. He pays only once and has a gun for very long time. For Standard Div. is an excellent match, and if he got more coin SVI is a great choice. There must be a reason why so many Standard shooters use this platform to shoot or to build a new competition pistol.

I would strongly suggest you try before buy. Great feeling pistol and the trigger is pretty good out of the box.

I would shoot one myself if I can reach the safety with ease. I can't. Must have short thumbs - part american maybe. If you can't manipulate the controls in a natural movement move on.

I shot a CZ Tactical Sport for years. Many S_I owners could not believe how good the trigger was right out of the box, better then most of theirs after expensive trigger jobs with many after market parts. The factory trigger even has take-up screws for pre and post travel, and is about 28oz (that's a hair over 1 1/2lbs,) from the factory unless that has changed.

There were some issues that I found though. To get 10 rounds in the mags was a little tough. On top of that the mags have plastic bases which tend to chip or crack when dropped on concrete floors. Also, the plastic bases are hollow/open in the center which in turn made seating the mags an issue. Then there is the magwell that comes with the gun, well if you can call it that. There is a little bit of plastic that sits around the opening where you put the mags in the gun. The checkering on the front and back strap,..... come on,... really?! Lastly the appearance of the gun. The frame has a finish that I'm not sure what it is, like a heavy duty paint, maybe a type of Gunkote, I'm not sure. It's ok, I never had a problem with it, but it's just not as pretty as the hard chrome guns.

With that said, for the money it is a great gun for Standard division. When you get it, it's ready to go right out of the box,... well maybe clean it well first.;) There are also a bunch of extra parts that can be bought from Angus Hobdell in the States, "CZ Custom Shop" I think is the website he goes by. I picked up the aluminum base pads for the mags and that made a huge improvement in the mags. I also ended up buying the aluminum grips and magwell, as well as new sights for it from Angus. If you find the grip of the TS to be a little large for your hands, the aluminum grips will help a whole lot.

It served me well for years until I decided that I wanted something prettier. I have Tanfoglio now, at nearly twice the price, but it's 10x better looking :D. I really like the hinge trigger and that's why I went to the Tanfoglio instead of S_I.

Hope this helps.
