I have a new CZ85 Combat and was reading on CZcustoms site that the old trigger is much better than the new one. I dont find it particularly nasty but then I have not tried the old version either. Are they just trying to sell old parts or is there something to it?

CZ 75 and CZ 85C are similar in design except for few improvements over the original CZ75. Pre-B's 75 has no FPB, and a better trigger. However, I found that my CZ 85C has a more refined build than the CZ 75. Adjustable Rear Sight, ambidextrous slide stop and safety, and no FPB. I have shot a pre-B CZ 75 few months ago, and it was indeed has a better trigger. The owner swears he has not done any mod on the pistol. It was in good shape, with under 1000 rds. What I did on mine was replace the mainspring, recoil spring and extended firing pin. Trigger is now a lot better and racks a lot softer. Camming on Single Action is still present until you do a sear mod. However, this sear mod is not recommended for people who are not up to an advanced mechanical aptitude. Google "Cajun Works" and you can see what this modded sear can do for your pistol. You can also google "CZ 75 trigger Mod"
for tips and tricks.

Enjoy your CZ 85 Combat!

I think you're referring to the actual trigger shape/profile - the "older" CZ85 trigger is different that the newer one, which is also installed on "newer" SP-01 Shadows. I'm not sure if I've handled the "newer" version, but I did swap out the trigger in my Shadow (which was the old style Shadow trigger) for the "older" CZ85 one - it has a longer radius, and doesn't have the pointy/sharp feeling edge at the end that the original Shawdow trigger had.

It's simply personal preference; if the trigger you have isn't uncomfortable for you, installing the old style CZ85 trigger may result in a "meh".
