Sorry you don't get pictures until after I go to the range and can have a range report!

I'm running an NEA (gen3 apparently...) railed upper hand gaurd. This is my first time with a optic that mounts in this fashion that is not for a paintpall gun.

I noticed that the recoil bar doesn't actually go into the perpendicular groove but that the radius on the recoil bar pushes against the edges of the grove. So there is about 2mm of space between the base plate on the aimpoint and the top of the rail. I don't know the right term, but the compression fittings that squeeze down on the sides fit and line up nicely and the m4s is rock solid and appears parallel to the rail. Is this correct?

Generally where about did you find your red dot to be? Was it just high or low, or left to right adjustment?

I'm planning on putting about 500-1000 rounds through my cz at the range tomorrow so I will also take some time to remove and reinstall the upper handguard, leaving the aimpoint attached to check how repeatable zero is.

Any suggested sight in procedure for my setup? How many meters away? Should I setup up a target at 25m and get it driving tacks or 50m, or all the way to 100m? At 100m my eyesight, even with my glasses may hinder my ability to accurately zero the aimpoint, but once zeroed I could make consistent hits at that range I believe...

I'm shooting corrosive surplus.
 
Plain on doing the same thing but I'll be using this instead of the AimPoint so I can have a vertical line for bullet drop references;

Are you mounting it on the back of the gun - not the front handguard ?

Well I went to the range today... forgot my good earplugs and had to use the cheap ones... forgot my camera so no extra pictures, but i might take some more of my setup when it gets back...

The aimpoint was at the center position when I started my zero, at 100m I was shooting 1.5m to the right of my target and 1m high. So after dialing the aimpoint in I was nice and happy... then all the sudden my shots were going all over the place. A quick look and I noticed that the m4s had come loose on the handguard. Because there is a radius near the end of the rail closest to the bolt the end of the m4s started to dig into it and come loose. So I move the m4s one more ahead locked it down and re-zeroed.

Because I am shooting surplus I did 20 round strings on each target before checking and adjusting the sight. There were a bunch of clays thrown up on the berm at the end of the range and I used them to get it most of the way dialed in, finished the rest of the adjustment at 25m...

The CZ858 is an amazing rifle, and combined with the aimpoint comp m4s is a devastating little package. I'm not looking for decimal MOA performance, just a rifle that I point and shoot and it hits the intended target. At 25m I was grouping roughly 2.5-3cm in diameter, other than the stragglers where it was my error... hence the 20 round strings... this allowed me to have about 10-15 good shots and 5-10 where I was too early or what have you.

I noticed that the lenses on the aimpoint did start to get noticeably dirty by the 500 round point, which is when I left, but lent my rifle to my friend to keep shooting as he was staying longer.

I did get the CZ nice and hot, which allowed me to get the aimpoint really nicely up to torque, it did back off a couple times, but a few high speed strings and with the upper hand guard too hot to touch with bare hands I was able to get another 10-20 degrees on the torque knob. By 300 rounds it wouldn't take anymore, and i would double check every 50 or so.

My only complaint is this. I'm not happy that I had to adjust the aimpoint so far to the left and so far down. It worked out to like 3 full rotations on the windage and about 1 on the vertical. When I'm shooting it is very comfortable and I have no problems. When "idle" and I'm looking closer my OCD kicks in and I can notice how off center the LED support is. It really bothers me to have such an expensive optic and have it adjusted so far.

I would say that I like the concept of the nea upper hand guard, but the unit I have doesn't meet my expectations but the price was excellent. I found the hand guard was very tight to the pin block(don't know the correct name), but a little bit of grease made it easy to remove and reinstall the hand guard. Due to my issues initially with just getting the aimpoint zero'ed, I did not remove and reinstall the hand guard to test for re-zero. I will test this at the next range visit. I am confident that the nea upper hand guard will retain zero, or remain close enough to it for what I require of the rifle.

My upper hand guard is the one without nea engraved on the side and does not have the set screw.

My poor Sig Sauer got fed barely 150 rounds today, while the CZ 500+ and now shooting someone elses ammo :D

From new, I'm at the 1000round mark easy with no jams and no gremlin. CZ858, when combined with an optic, is the best x39 rifle for the money in my opinion.
 
I have a Aimpoint compm4 on my CZ-858 too :dancingbanana: . I should have bought NEA hand guard instead of Fab Defense (buy cheap, buy twice :( ) I think I will buy Neit Designs hand guard when it comes out.
