I'm looking into this for my friend. We were at the range the other day firing his CZ858 with Sellier & Bellot 7.62x39 SP ammo. Out of 20 rounds fired, 2 of the spent casings did not have the primers in them any more. The primers were nowhere to be found. We did not know if this was caused by the ammo or the firearm itself and decided to pack it in for now. This rifle only has 100 rounds through it, if that.

Is it the firing pin or anything in the rifle causing the primers to blow out? Or do you think it's just the ammo. Out of safety concerns, we are not going to fire the rifle again until we determine the cause.

Thanks for the help guys!

This the reason the military crimps in primers. But check the headspace on the gun.

Also, try military ammo. I bet it won't happen again.

He doesn't want to shoot corrosive ammo, he would rather spend the money and shoot the non-corrosive.

How do you check the headspace on a CZ858? I'm fairly new to this but I really do appreciate everyones help.

You need a headpace gauge. It can be done by other means, but best just have a smith do it.

Don't forget that the Czech military ammo is the ammo this gun was designed to shoot.

Hey,
Atleast you don't have to de-prime them once your done!
On a serious note what type of firing pin does he have? I changed mine from the four post to the three post and havn't had this problem happen since.

My cz 858 does the same thing with s&b soft points.primers are partially out on some of them.it is ok with everything else .s&b surplus and anything norinco including soft point is fine.i think it is just the s&b soft point.it works fine in my mini 30 and my 4 the sks rifles so i just do not use it in the cz.
