This rifle is part of our bore abuse test so the bore and chamber don't get cleaned until 6 weeks after every shoot. I usually have to use vice grips to get the piston out due to rust. The bolt carrier group doesn't get much more attention but it gets bearing grease regularly and wipe on occasion.
Not sure how that might put more pressure on the striker. Just a backgrounder on the rifle for info purposes.
I don't think it's due to lack of maintenance. Justa weak spot on a moving part that sees impact. Things fail, that's why you should inspect. Thanks for sharing the video.
Had this happen on one of mine too. Not sure why, it was a low round count rifle at the time but then again the parts could have seen 50,000 rds and who would know.
