Out to the range today for the second time with my CZ858. First trip I fired 20 rounds without problem. The rifle cycled and fired and after bringing it home I gave it a quick clean and oil.

Today the rifle would not load the first round. After pulling and releasing the bolt it would pick up the cartridge and jam (stovepipe?) in the barrel. If inserted maually the following rounds would feed but examination of the brass revealed scuffing on every one. I tried all 4 mags with the same result.

I've disassembled the rifle and there is no apparent adjustment for the feed path. Everything is cleaned and oiled. Any suggestions?

Thank you
Henry

what kind of ammo are you using???? it sound like non-surplus which have softer casing that get hung up when feeding.

quite common with some non-surplus ammo due to the softer shell , if you want to find out if its the ammo or the rifle then shoot some czech ammo and see you have the same problem, likely not.

once you determined its the ammo then you can try this possible solution, it will greatly reduce the problem but not sure whether you will completely solve it, inspect the dings/gouges on the SPENT SHELL and line it up inside the feeding well and see where it was getting hung up, then "polish" those areas with very fine paper, especially the feeding ramp.

Mine wouldn't eat brass cartridges untill i rounded the shoulders on either side of the feed ramp. They leave the long gouges on the brass and hang it up.

Only 20 rounds!!!! , thats hardly worth the effort cleaning the beast , I never go to the range with less than 100, Its a sweet Rifle and i just love it .
I normally take a few rifles to the range at a time , and this one is always first .
The misses likes it because its nice and lite . BTW i have never had any feed issues with commie surplus. a bang and a hole every time. Getting a bit low though looking forward to Canam getting some in .
