After removing the two small pins on the front sight - how does it separate from the barrel? Does it thread off, or does it slip into place? Mine doesn't seem to want to budge. Any help would be appreciated.

It does look like the paint has sealed to the barrel through the cut outs on the sight. I tried to cut the paint in these places and knock it with a soft mallet - still with no luck. :( I'll have to try the torch next...

I wouldn't hit it with a torch - it's a little overkill. I did it without a torch. Just hit it with a mallet. Hold the receiver with a vice with soft grips and a few shop towels so all the mallets energy gets transfered in moving the front sight.

Patience is key :) Once you break the paint's grip on the sight, it will budge.

I just tapped mine off with a mallet. Came off fairly easy if I remember correctly. Like most milsurp firearms, fit and function will vary however. It may need a little persuading.

You need a bigger fix-it hammer!

After finally getting the front sight off (they really build up the coating of paint!) the latest incarnation is almost finished - I still need a few other pieces,CTR rear stock, maybe an AVG and the yet to be released NEA gas-block/front sight combo. I'm also contemplating shortening up a couple of the neutered mags for a more compact feel. More non-restricted goodness.
