First of all, hello to everyone. I'm new to shooting sport, and new to CZ858 (my first semi-auto). I really liked its classic looking and enjoyed learning the history behind it.

I want to hear some suggestions about how to improve a minor blemish in paint job on my rifle (circled in picture). It doesn't look as bad as it appears on the picture, but I don't want it to get worse.

Do you think it's a good idea to use sand paper to smooth it out and touch up with some homedepot paint? I have leftover paint for the the gas pipe. The colour probably is differenct. Not sure how it will look if i repaint the whole front sight base.

(P.s. I posted same question in another forum, but didn't get response. Sorry for the duplicate post.)

Thanks!

I sandblasted one of my 858s and gave it an oven-baked black finish called Wheeler Cerama-Coat. It now looks like "a million bucks"

Well, having previously owned and shot the crap out of a CZ858 - the finish on them is terrible. It will flake, peel and rub off with use. I wouldn't spend much effort trying to keep it clean and tidy. If you really want it to look good, get it blasted and totally refinished with a longer lasting product.

Duracoat makes a VZ 2008 finnish but I never been able to find it.

Also, Consider that the VZ/CZ looks great with wear and tear just like any military weapon. I regret selling my first heavy worn SKS. They guy who got it ran into me afew months ago and said hes been loving it.
