So I have a problem with my 858...When I fire it...the casing gets stuck in the chamber... the extractor rips a piece of the casing off trying to extract it......So I have to use a rod to push it out.......It worked fine until I stupidly forgot to clean it after putting 60 rnds of corrosive ammo through it....the bore was starting to rust so I cleaned it several times until it looked pretty good but then this problem started.......I'm kinda scared to chamber a live round and see if it can be extracted because it took a while to push the spent casing out and I dont want a live round to be stuck in there....I dont think its the extractor because it is trying to extract but the casing is just in the chamber to tight.....after a round is fired the casing is expanding enough to get stuck.....Anyone else have this problem?....any advice would be great......thanks....Wes

Before you get too excited get in there with a copper 12ga bore brush on the end of a cleaning rod. Put the rod in a drill and spin it at a relatively slow speed. Apply some gun cleaning solvent, oil etc during the process. Spin for a minute or two moving the brush in and out, then clean with a large swab until it comes out clean.
If that doesn't fix your issues then you have issues to worry about. Some times there can just be a buildup of gunk in the chamber that will make extraction difficult.

Check the bottom of the bolt carrier. It sounds like the same problem I had. What happened was that there is two lips that insert and remove the cartridge and one of them had a small piece of metal missing. I sent the bolt back to wolverine and was replaced and since then I have never had a problem again.

How long did you wait to clean it in the first place? I'm no expert, but if you needed to push a rod down the bore to free the spent cartridge, I'd have to say you have an issue with the bore being rough from the corrosive ammo. Whether it can be reversed or not would depend on the extent of the damage, as in, how long did it sit. 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months; just a ball park if you can, so others like me don't wait too long. I mean, I don't want to go camping for a week and ruin the rifle, but I don't want to risk scalding myself every night washing out the salts.
As for fixing your problem, I agree with Suprathepeg. Dremmel or drill it at a very low speed moving in and out using plenty of solvent. I wouldn't skimp on solvent or elbow grease; if you want to save it, the time is now. Of course if money is no object, you can wait and try to get another.
Either way let us know how long it sat to give all a better idea how long you have before the problem gets too severe. I hope yours is not that far yet, but your input would be helpfull.

ive got the same prob with mine, only while its REALLY hot though.
ive tried cleaning it well, next im going to try fine lapping compound and gently "scrub" the chamber.
I tryed that on a friends enfield with a rusty chamber and it actually extracts ammo after firing now.

The fired case can answer all of these questions if you could post a good pic of all sides of it. We'll be able to tell if chamber is pitted causing the case to expand into the pits making it hard to extract. Or if it's the opposite and rust is inside there grabbing onto the casing.
If it's rust I would think that cycling rounds over and over would eventually wear it off and you'd be good, like nikoinwinnipeg said.
If it's pitting and the case is expanding in there, a new barrel is probably the only option.
Other than that I'm going to assume that you checked the cartridges themselves for dents, bulges or old baked on grease on them?

It's funny I found this thread as I'm going after the same problem tomorrow with my Yugo SKS. The SKS loves the Norinco ammunition, but wont eject the Czech surplus and requires a sharp tap on the carrier to get the case out.
Ive had the exact same problem , got the rifle new over a year ago ,fired a few rounds threw it (hungarian MFH ? or something like that) then had a jam. First issue was- round fired but carrier stuck closed. Took it home and was able to remove case after partially dismantling fire arm.
I cleaned the firearm well and put it away for future use.
Brought it home with me to BC (i work and live in alberta most of time) was all jazzed to go shooting and .....good thing i brought the sks.
First round fired ,brass jammed in bore. I removed the mag and examined brass , it looked like a beaver took a bite.
Took it home and remove it with rubber malet and old cleaning rod . ( Precision hammering...not something i like doing) Was using older sellier bellot ammo , this time.
Cleaned gun again , tried again same issue.
Just picked up some norinco ammo , sum new sum older .Thought that might help , nope.
Back to the Sks-d i bought for the Missus, she doesnt like sharing....
