I'm just curious if anyone has tried replacing their rear stock sight on an 858 with one of those short rails and tossed an Aimpoint (comp m4 style) or a Vortex Strikefire on there? And if anyone ever has, did you find the mount or the sight interfered with or was harmed or impacted by ejecting spent casings.

Any info anyone has at all would be interesting.

This mount is shown here from 2:00 to 2:44

Doesn't look like any issues in the video, but the sight they use doesn't stick back at all like a Vortex would in my mind.

Sorry Im on my phone right now so no video but Ive got a scout scope mount and a vortex strikefire w/ vortex low mount on my sks and it fits perfect without the magnifier. The rear of the strikefire is right above the back of the barrel so no issues with ejected casings. Best combo since pb+j IMO. I imagine it would fit the same on your 858

Look at Frank showing off on stuff the government deams we can't have.

No issue's have been reported with that mount in regards to brass hitting any red dot optic's such as an Comp4 or a strikefire. The ideal 1's to use would be the smaller optic red dot's like a fast fire or an sparc.

I had a Fastfire mounted on the Marstar-supplied scout base. Trimming off the projecting front end of the base allowed the removal of the handguard for cleaning without touching the optic...they claimed that it would return to zero but I never tested that. Never had an issue with ejected casings touching the optic. I much preferred this set-up to the commonly used optic-on-railed-handguard alternative, but obviously it only works with a small unit like a Fastfire or something similar. Anything large, like an Eotech, would stick out too far either to the rear and/or the front.
