Just a questions to industry members and those in the know...

I have a CZ 858 restricted model with a chrome lined barrel and a non restricted version with a less robust non chromed lined barrel.

Question: Does anyone know of or manufacture a non restricted length barrel that is either chrome lined or stainless steel?

I dont have a range easily available that allows using such a high calibre rifle but it sure would be sweet to take it out to the farm!

Cheers!

Unless you intend to neglect cleaning your rifle or plan to shoot over 50k of surplus through it, there's no reason to consider the non-chrome barrel to be "less robust".

I am missing the logic a bit here.

Just take out your non res (chrome lined or not) outside city limits and you are good to go.

I clean mine after every usage, they really do rust if you don't do that - but only with corrosive ammo.

I f you are concerned about rust, Canada ammo has a 3 for 2 deal going on right now for NON corrosive 7.62 x39, can't go wrong with that.

Realistically, you'll have spent several times the value of the rifle on ammo before you run in to any issues related to having a non-chrome lined barrel.

Dan Dlask did these 2 custom jobs and would be willing to do them again for the right price.
This is from one of Dr. Lectors posts in the VZ V8 sticky.

Dlask & 'Bits of pieces' both quoted me around $500(Almost a year ago! Prices may have changed! Don't blame dlask/bitsofpieces if it did!) to rebarrel a vz58 with a non-res barrel.

I have a vz58 put together from a parts kit that has bad headspace, the only reason I'm considering paying for the rebarrel is because of the time invested into the rifle.
Otherwise, I'd just get one from the EE. Yugo sks rifles have a non-chrome bore, and have a high value. Chrome isn't everything. It won't get you home.

I guess I need to clarify, cleaniliness or corrosion resistance is not my concern, the girls get a good scrub after every use.
I have noticed that the non res barrel is lighter than the chrome line res barrel and perhaps in my opinion perhaps less durable to wear? not sure on that one .

In addition, I dont want to part with my restricted vault queen and would rather convert her to non res and get more use out of her.

thanks for all the good feedback fellas!

cheers!

I would choose dlask over bits of pieces, as bop said they haven't done one before but can do it. Where dlask has clearly done them before.

In a semi auto and with our silly 5 rds mag law..... you will have to try very hard to wear out a barrel. Chrome is very useful for full auto rifle because the hardness slow wear and i think the first inches after the chamber get the most abuse. But in a semi auto with pinned mag to 5 rds, a non chrome bore should last a lifetime or close....:)
