We just got a small shipment of Nazi marked P-38 pistols in from a friend in The Czech Republic. These are a mixed bag of years and manufacturers with a few even being Russian captured "X" guns. I will spend a few days sorting them out and taking pictures and will post them up here and on the website next week. There will most likely be a few different grades and the prices will reflect that. There are also a few extra magazines for sale but they are post war stamped.

I am no expert on the bazillion different variations of P-38 so please cut me a little slack....

You can get good examples with matching holsters for the 3 to 4 hundred dollar range with matching mags and all markings intact yet people willing to pay 3 times the price

Fools and there money part quickly, any body that pays over 500 for a Russian capture that isn't particularly a rare variation is a fool. Originals correct guns can still be found 6-700.

Never seen an AC or a BYF go for under 800. Especially if they're in good shape.
CYQ marked P38's go for around the price you posted, and post war P1's are cheaper than both.
The picture Dlask posted was a Walther factory made AC in very good condition. I'd be impressed if it were even $800 and I'd buy it in a snap

Just going by past retail on P38s and current prices I've seen.

A very nice BYF sold for $650 on the EE about a month ago, so they do come up at reasonable prices from time to time. It did sell quickly though.
