Hello All. Does any one know what the marks NA are. They are stamped on the barrel of my 8mm mauser. I've already posted the other marks awhile back but haven't been able to find out about these two letters. The receiver has swp45 on it to refresh anyones memory. Thanks

OK, I was thinking they were a manufactures name stamp other then a lot stamp. Thanks just trying to see if the barrel was what came with the rifle or if it had been changed once upon a time.

Well the bullets do go down range. Haven't had a chance yet to play on paper just for function. Thought I had a problem with head space but it turned out that the reloaded cartridges were smaller then spec. They should have a dia of .470 but my reloades which worked fine in my Grandpa 8mm BRNO where about .004 to.005 smaller in dia. So of course when I first fired it it spit back at me and left part of the bolt and cartridge rim sooty.Obviously not sealing the chamber at ignition. So I hunted thru my casings and took some cartridges that where with in spec to the range and things went fine.No spitting back and no soot and the cartidges looked ok.

That is probably a low pressure problem and not a headspace problem......

I was wondering about that also. But the brass that was closer to the proper spec was with the same load. I'll load some of the smaller dia. brass up a little hotter and see what happens.Thanks. Jim

I used the micrometer on the brass that I fired that was little larger then the first ones and after firing they all mike out at .471. Close enough to enjoy this piece of history. Now its time to work up some loads.Later

Agreed. Soot travelling down the side of the necks and casings is almost always a sign that your loads are too low pressure.

I used to get that all the time with aneamic loads I used to put together for a Gewehr 88 I once had.
