I have a Post war Czech made/put together K98 with a scrubbed crest (Most likely a former Rampart Lion) that was most likely sold off to the Mid East at one point, and then made it back to Canada through Century International.

Know, I have seen many Czech Rampart Lion acceptance stamps on other Czech K98s, and have looked up all I can find on these stamps, but I CANNOT identify the ones on my rifle. :(

Most Lions are the standard "Standing Lion" type such as this:

But the here are the photos of the left side of the receiver on my Czech K98:

(Sorry about the small size.. I will try and get a better close up later.)

It appears to be a smaller "Walking Lion" or similar cat, with perhaps a sunrise above it, and maybe the number "5"??? Was this a lesser known acceptance stamp? It is on the receiver ring and on the barrel.

This is an E3 marked K98 so it was made at the Brno factory. It is in standard 7.92x57mm (8mm) Mauser.

Is it just that I am looking at the stamp incorrectly??? Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks!
