Hi Guys,

Just want to share todays discovery. Sitting at home after surgery, but just can't watch stupid TV. Anyway, long story short.
I bought 1000 round crate of Czech ammo and decided to check how bullet looks like inside. Reason for that is simple. I had Chinese SKS 9 years ago,
with ammo what I got at that time my Benelli shotgun had better group than SKS at 100 yards. Switched to commercial ammo, way better. Those rounds (Can't remember manufacturer of ammo) were sitting in basement until one day I got bored and pulled 10 bullets out. Powder charge was shocking going +/- 1.5 grain difference on digital scale. Cut one bullet in half. Another surprise it's FMJ without steel insert. Bullet weight consistent. Made simple jig with pilot and soon I had nice hollow points. Pulled another 40 and made all of them hollow points. Moly coated and back in case with "normal" gunpowder. Got reloading data from internet, one trip to store to get dies and powder. At gun range another surprise, consistent 3" group at 100 yards.
No other mods to rifle. Consider trigger pull weight close to my truck weight that was great. So, I wanted to see what inside those...
Yep, soft steel(alloy?) jacket and huge steel insert, lead just in front.
On picture left is Hornady 168 HPBT, middle Sierra 155 Palma and right is Czech. Bumer...

Any thoughts?

Looks like a layer of lead between the steel core and jacket. At least that's there for some bullet squeeze. No good for hunting or target shooting, but perfect for military and plinking.
Nice pics, thanks for the share!

Have you checked the consistency of the chrages and bullet weights of the Czech ammo? I would be very interested to know how consistent it is.
