Hey all, I was thinking of getting one of these, does anyone have any reviews, positive or negative about them?
Thanks
:D

You sure it wasn't "just right condom"? It's not ribbed for someones pleasure is it? I'd make sure before making any purchases. :p

I know it's the official name but try a search for "JR carbine". You're likely to get better results.

got mine in 9mm...it is a really fun gun to shoot. I just have iron sights on it right now. I had a few ftf...but i think it was the MFS ammo. The gun seems to run pretty dirty though. After a couple hundred rounds it's pretty dirty. Again could be the MFS ammo. Feels nice and solid, not too bad to clean but you have to take the stock off, and mine didn't come with the AR tool so i had to get one after. Not sure if you really need to use slip2000 as they say..but i got some anyway. At 25 metres could get 10 shots within a couple inches...and i'm not a great shot.

No Way? What is the problem with the 40 S&W? I would have thought with the heavier bullet one would have more back pressure and that makes for reliable feeding.

My 9mm J R Carbine works fine except with the straight blowback it opens a bit prematuraly and the bolt face, guts and magazine get absolutely filthy. However, I hear this is very common with all pure blowback firearms

I really like mine!

Get one.

You just like showing off your new gun room!!! I don't blame you. Nice job. :D

I often find myself sitting in it contemplating life's little quandaries, like why do we have neutered mags, prohibs, and liberals?

Then I come back to reality and buy another gun to ease the pain.

I like mine. I tried making a video of the problem I was having with short stroking but after I'd set the camera up it stopped happening. Go figure. :p

The reason I got mine was because I'd been wanting a 9mm AR. Those however are:

- expensive
- hard to find
- restricted

When you do get one, the magazines are:

- expensive
- hard to find
- restricted (capacity, unless you luck upon some of the 10 rounders)

The JR Carbine solves all of those problems. Granted it's not exactly the same thing and a real 9mm AR has a certain measure of ### appeal over the JR, but I can look past the cosmetic differences as I'm shooting out in the bush with cheap and plentiful Glock mags.

Right on, I think I will try one out. Thanks a lot. By the way nice gun room!!
:D

Thanks, when you get one, get a barrel shroud for it (insert Predator reference here...)

Great gun, but wimpy little barrel profile (cosmetically).f:P:2:

For shroud info, see my thread in this section (titled JR Carbine Barrel Shroud)

A longer quad-rail would be really nice with the longer barrel.

Is there anything unique about the JR quad-rail, or will anything meant for an AR-15 just bolt right on?

A fair amount of AR stuff will fit on it but because the nut on the end that holds the hand guard to the rifle is much larger than AR's, the hand guards won't work. A full floating guard could be used most likely though. Vltor makes one that attaches via the top rail and is full floating and has a rail on top approx 12" long for mounting optics.

I have on in .40 S&W (2nd Gen ROund Barrel). Shoots and works great. Mounted a Vortec Strikefire and sighted in for 100m. I really like shooting it because of the bonuses: cheap ammo, cheap and easily available mags and NON-RESTrICTED. What's not to love?

Regards,

I bought a new JR the other day off CGN and shot a few magazines through it and shoots great. No issues yet and hopefully not, it does have the round barrel and updated spring to prevent the rapid fire..very happy so far and sweet gun, cheap to shoot
