Hi!
Anyone well versed into do-it-yourself parkerizing?
I want to do some parkerizing on a folding Choate skeleton stock and a magazine extension tube so that they match the green color of the rest of the firearm which is a S&W 3000 Police shotgun.

Is there an across-the-counter chemistry kit for this or should I deal with a knowledgeable gunsmith?

Parkerize it and put it in a bath of hot Cosmoline, which gives it the greenish grey "aged parkerizing" look

PP, my green parkerizing comes in a Krylon spray can. :)

If it gets scratched or rubbed, the can comes out again.

OH! well, that's good news! :)
I'll whip out the can, I just have the exact matching color on my workbench. Then I'll give it a coat or two of matte fixing lacker to even out the works and harden everything a bit.
Money saved!

Right! The colour was especially formulated for CGN members, Greenish Grey Aged Parkerizing, Krylon product #SW 3000 P, exactly what ###XX has mentioned. :)

Seriously, though, I have quit trying to get good parkerizing done, and just use flat texture paints for quite a while now.
