Before the guillotine go down, i am looking to set up a 50 BMG. If i buy the upper DA 50, what else do i need to have it operationnal.

I believe u just need a complete AR lower making it restricted and probably subject to the future ban.But Canada Ammo will chirp in when they open with the definitive answer. I believe some one was modifying them to make them NR

They are mentionning changing the hammer, please elaborate.

... Buying a DA 50
…. I have AR lower
… Next

ATRS was doing the NON-Restricted conversions for these, that's who I would talk to as a first step...

Cheers
Jay

ATRS is no longer making the non-restricted lower for the DA 50. I ended up buying a used one here and ATRS did the modification for me.

You will need a restricted lower with only a buffer tube, stock, trigger guard and trigger pack. Canada ammo supplies the heavy hammer spring and hammer to ignite the 50 bmg primer.

Got a couple BNIB CQA Norinco full rifle, i could use the lower of one of these.

Absolutely, just swap the hammer spring and hammer then you’re good to go

Thanks. Then it's settled, i will order my DA50... And i will be able to shoot my 117 rounds.:dancingbanana:

PS: does it take special tools to change the spring and hammer.

I was impressed by mine, before i turned it into a noise maker, i would check if ATRS is still doing the Non-res lower as they are well worth the price.

As suggested by many buy the ATRS lower, with not knowing what this Government has planned should they Ban the AR you may have no lower. I have owned a number of 50’ and if you are shooting at real distance spend the money on built gun. By the way the PGW 50 in the EE is one mine I am selling.

If you want a 50, that is probably the way to go. Its an inexpensive option that you probably wont get buyers remorse and end up selling at a huge loss.

Totally agree with your statement and for the records, I NEVER HAVE BUYER REMORSES but i often am sad i did not buy 2 instead of 1.

So ATRS can switch restricted ar-15 to non-restricted?

No. They cant. The da 50 isnt an ar15. Atrs was permanently modifying the da50 so it could never be used on an ar15 lower again and mating it to their proprietary lower receiver that has a nr classification. The ar15 is restricted by name and short of redesigning the upper and lower it will never be non restricted no matter what you do
