Well, after hunting around a bit and seeing what "tactical" style shotguns are available, I've decided on the Mag Grizzly... cheap, built well (from what I've gathered), and it looks awesome. My first choice would have been a Saiga... but Liberal happened :p

Now though, I can't decide whether to get the 15" or the 18.5" barrel versions. I will primarily be using it for romping through the woods on private property, killing cans, trees, and other defenseless inanimate objects. Would the opportunity arrive though, I would not mind using it for hunting, but thats not a priority.

Can anyone with experiance of the two different versions tell me what the pros and cons are between them? I probably won't be tacticooling it up much, just a sling and possibly a red dot sight.

Any info would be appreciated!

A shorter barrel is lighter and easier to conceal, a longer barrel will offer higher muzzle velocities for a specific shell.

Well I'm a big guy, so I'm not too worried about weight, I can lug my 91/30 through the woods all day. However, more importantly, are there any accuracy variations between the two? I'm a complete noob to scatterguns, just fyi

I have the 15" and love it.. if you want to have the folding stock, or use the pistol grip you'll need the 18.5 though

....I know there's still debate about using the "factory supplied" pistol grip, less than 26" OAL etc... but do you have the time and money to prove it if stopped by an LEO?

as for accuracy, not sure if the 3" will make a heap of difference, still a short cylinder bore scattergun

All right, I was leaning towards the 15 anyways, as I don't want or need a folding stock. Plus the heat shield looks pretty cool in my eyes :p

I appreciate the help!

I recently bought the 15" DA Grizzly mag fed shotgun from CanAm and I love it. They're both basically the same well built gun, just different features. The 15" has a heat shield and a solid stock. I found the stock a bit too long, so I took out my hacksaw and cut some off. The 18.5" has a folding stock so you can shoot it pistol grip as well as full stock style. Personally, I prefer the shorter barrel for home defense.

If you put on a Knoxx spec opp folding stock then it is legal for length when folded. This is what I have on my 15" mag grizzly and absolutly love it.

I already own a Valtro PM-5 which cost me $800. I saw an ad on the EE for a NIB Grizzly folder for $295. I'm not even all that crazy about shotties (much less chinese crap), but couldn't pass this one up (story of my pathetic life :p).

Took me 3 days to get get delivered expedited. I have to admit, great gun for the money. Have to clean out that waxy crap and I intend to polish the action wherever possible to smooth out the action. It's obviously not on par with my over-priced Valtro. I am impressed, though. For the money, it's impossible to go wrong.

Anyone have any mods/suggestions for this shotty? I'm sure CannonFodder41 would be interested to know about any nifty mods for these guns as well!

I just bought some ammo for my Grizzly shotgun and I realized that it can hold 5+1 shells. I wanted to make sure that it cycles properly, and it's a little tricky at first, but after cycling it many times, it cycles smoothly now. I can't wait until shooting it. :)

Thats one of the first things I check on all of my guns when I get them, to see if they have the ability to have 1 in the chamber + a full mag... dunno why, but it tickles me to know I can stuff that 1 extra in :p

@ Peter, I also am not one for Chinese "crap" either, but on hearing the great reviews and thumbs up for this shotty, I didn't really want to pass it up. I'm sure I won't be dissappointed.

I was under the impression that pretty much any 870 mod (gotta be hundreds out there) would fit on the Grizzly, I am not one for the AR style stocks, but I'll wait and see how she handles before I make any decisions on tacticoolin' it up.

Just as a note, If you ever decide to take it hunting you would have to have your magazine plugged so it will only hold 2 rounds if you hunt in Ontario. Not sure how easy it would be to plug a detatchable box mag fed grizzly.

No matter what, I'm sure you will enjoy the shotgun. :)

Easy, just don't bring the mag along with you. Turns into a single shot :p

Yes most 870 parts will fit, the forend tube is over sized, so if you want to changes stocks and you really should, then you will have to open up the inside of your 870 forend.
I have instaled jumbo safetys, mag followers, side saddles butstocks single point sling mounts with no problems.

Well, I picked up my 15" at the post office yesterday, also went out and shot about 50 shells of #7 through it.

I'm impressed. Not a single stovepipe or misfeed. The gun preformed excellently, and I thoroughly decimated all of my targets :p

Thanks for the great gun CanAm!

One thing I did notice is that the pump handle seems a little too slippery, but I solved that problem by just holding the mag well instead while shooting.

I think it would be cool to have a wood stockset on a 15" or 12.5"(what the new ones will supposedly be) grizzly magfed. Too bad I am too poor to buy one. Maybe if I sold my 18" Remington 870, but that was the first gun I owned(bought last December) and I know I would regret it.
