On another forum the 590 was being discussed . I didn't know there were two versions . One has a heavier barrel than the other which the military specified . One of the posters had a comment i'd never heard of . He's saying that the heavy barreled version has more going for it . It's a double action . The civi version is a single action . Stroke the slide , a round gets loaded , the hammer gets cocked and you fire . The heavy barrel version , being double action , stroke the slide , a round gets loaded but the hammer doesn't get cocked . Pull the double action trigger and the round fires but being double action you can pull the trigger again for a second strike if needed . Any truth to that ?
