Me too, I bought mine at WIld West in the WEM. It had a crappy grey paint job that I stripped and then duracoated. If you don't like the forend, the forearm cap is round so A2 or A1 handguards will not work unless you replace the cap. The flash suppressor tread is also not 1/2x28.

I still have an old 311 .
They are metric . Standard buffer tubes & collapsible stocks will not fit .
barrel muzzle is metric , reg flash hiders will not fit .
Round A2 hand guards will fit . Triangle hand guards will fit if you remove the front gas block / sight & replace the round end cap with a triangle cap.
The butt stock is A1 length not A2 . you can put a A2 stock on the norc tube if you add the spacer .
Mine is set up with a milsurp A1 butt stock , milsurp A1 pistol grip , milsurp triangle hand guards .
Milsurp A1 3 prong muzzle brake . I had to mill out the brake & make an insert with metric threads .
Also have a repo Chinese made carry handle scope .
Trigger & hammer & pins can be swapped with US parts .

Maybe they used that handguard cause it looks like the little pens they give out.
