Hello
I had this "air rifle" in my cabinet for 30 years and always thought it was a pellet rifle.I have sone nuisance critters around my bird feeders I need to get rid of

.I did some research and it fires .22 caseless ammo .Does anyone know where I can get any ammo for this
It is a Daisy Heddon VL 22
Many Thanks
Wayne
Yeah...
No.
You won't find anyone stocking the stuff.
It was a bit of a sales flop for Daisy, nobody really seemed to enthused about buying a pellet gun/.rimfire hybrid, and the ammo stopped being made pretty much about the same time they stopped making the VL series rifles. If you find any at all, it is usually sold at collector prices, for guys that collect such. Expect to pay a couple bucks a round.
How it worked was the rifle was cocked like a pellet gun, and when it was fired, the compression heated the propellant, causing it to fire. This is essentially the same principle as a diesel engine, or dieseling, in regular air rifles if there is too much lube. So. It was extra effort to #### the spring, firing the spring, caused at least as much motion as a pellet rifle, plus the recoil from the shot going off.
I figure a blind man should have seen that not becoming a sales wonder, honestly.
Buy a decent pellet gun, and carry on. I will leave it to you to decide if you should be shooting that where you live. If your VL is in great shape, it may actually be worth something to a collector, about the only real market for them. Most likely point of contact is like to be through the collectors of Daisy products.
