What is Daisy V/L caseless ammo going for these days?
How well does the Daisy V/L work with caseless ammo?
I know they only made about 24,000 guns altogether did they flop due to the ammo, or did they not function the was they should?

Dunno what the ammo is worth these days. Dunno if anyone is making it. I do know that nobody was, for quite a while. There was some talk in the magazines, about someone doing a run. It won't be cheap.

Perform? About 1100 fps with a 40 grain bullet. How well did it work? Well enough, given that it was fired by a blast of compressed air generated by a spring piston airgun style unit that had to be cocked for each shot.

They were a flop because they cost as much as a regular 22, around $40, but had to be cocked like an airgun for each shot, and you could only use Daisy ammo, instead of anyones brand of 22 shells. They were also cheesy and cheaply built, except for the presentation models (around $120+) which were reasonably well built and really expensive.

Why? Got a deal lined up and wondering how to feed it?
Save your money.

They are collectible, at least to a small extent, but they are not worth owning as a shooter.

Original ammo is worth something to the cartridge collectors.

The ammo comes in tubes of 10 rounds.
I have bought it at gun shows for $2.50 a tube of 10 shots.
Interesting gun and getting more valuable as a collectors item
Always looking for Ammo.

It kind of sounds like you can use any .22 shell. You cannot. It is not powered by a blast of air.It works like a diesel engine.Air is compressed enough that it heats and ignites the charge on the bottom of the bullet.I ahve alos heard you can use these as a air gun.Use a .22 pellet and #### and shoot.I have never done this with mine.I have about 4500 bullets left for mine.

Got a chrony?

I'd love to see the numbers for a pellet going downrange, with just the spring pushing it.

The reports I've seen said about 300 fps was about it, and that the seals were problematic, making that a "best case" situation.

I can't see any real reason to go out and buy one of the Daisy's, so I'll never get around to it first-hand, I think.

The reports you have seen are wrong it's not a spring.
VL Caseless Ammunition Features: •No Cartridge Case •Velocity 1150 Feet Per Second (= .22 Long Rifle)
The ammunition was unique in that it was caseless, with the propellant adhering directly to the back of the bullet. It was ignited by the hot air generated by the spring-piston mechanism when forced through a small valve (adiabatic compression).
