Has anyone played with the dakota cartridges?Like the 330,375 etc?
I use both the 300 Dakota and the 330 Dakota. Two of my friends also use these same calibers. As mysticplayer stated they are similar to other calibers in power but they are superior in my opinion.
1. They are shorter cartidges, cases are about the length of 30-06 cases.
2. The first of the so called shorter improved cartridges to be commercially produced, today the WSM's follow in the same footsteps in providing shorter cartridges with equivalent power to current longer cartridges.
3. The have no belt and feed very smoothly.
4. They work in standard length actions.
5. There is a shorter bolt throw.
6. The chambers have no "Weatherby Freebore"
7. They use less powder than the long magnums.
8. They are very accurate cartridges.
In short I really like them and wish they become even more popular, the icing on the cake would be if a major would provide factory ammo and bring the price down. But then again look at what factory Weatherby ammo costs!
