Howdy, new to reloading just bought myself a Lee 50th anniversary kit.
i ran a case through the full length sizer an dropped the old primer out, when i pulled it out i seen on my case that there was a dent in the shoulder.
can anyone explain why this is?

also while im here, does anyone else find the Lee scales a "pain in the ass"... well just givin diffferent readings an really hard to "Zero"... i find i set it an then i turn around an its up or down, im feeling that its just too touchy so i am thinkin of puttin some marks either side of the line as a buffer zone to be "ok".

Thanks

1) You are using too much lube on your brass. That is causing the dents. If you are using spray lube cut your spray time in half. If you are using roll on, change to spray. Just my opinion but I rarely get dents with the spray.

2) Get a cheap electronic scale. They sell them for as little as 10.00. Most are good to .2 grains +/-. For most reloading that is sufficient. Don't confuse Grams for Grains when you read the accuracy. I have done that once to often. I have 5 or 6 of these cheap scales and they all seem to be about the same quality. Until you spend big money there is really no difference.

Hope that helps.

Dont need to lube the shoulders, only the case body.

Get a $6 container of Redding Imperial Die Wax. It only takes a very small amount of this product rubbed on to sufficiently lube the case.

The Lee Safety scale is not the easiest beam scale to use. It takes getting used to.

Try blowing compressed air where the beam hinges on the frame, and everywhere else where parts touch another.

I have one and prefer my 21 year old RCBS 505.
