Damaged SL8 top rail

Hey all. Got an SL8 off of EE and there was some hidden damage on the plastic top rail under the front sight. The pic rail was crudely drilled so one of the teeth are missing plus there are a couple of holes cut in the rail itself. I like the look of the full top rail, and am looking to put an LPVO on it so I don't have a need for back up sights - so its leaving the damage exposed.
Has anyone ever tried to repair the plastic? Or is there a flat pic rail cover of some sort so I can hide the damage that anyone knows about? I looked at replacements, and dont want to shell out that much for a part from the states (I have the Hera Arms 2 part pic rail)

That top rail is quite expensive when ordering new, like $400 US dollars. You should take recourse against the seller.

On another note, if you take the rail off and put the Hera Arms 2 piece rail on, you need a short one point mount, like the Primary Arms basic mount.
 
ah yes the EE and the sl8, many have had the bolt swapped from a h&k g36 that were only sold with after market american bolts.

I'd send it back to the seller or ask them for half the cost of replacement.
 
Yeah. It is expensive.
I just like the look - and prefer the rail space.

And the I thought about that, but i don't think the seller knew about the damage either. So not sure its worth stirring up all that.
 
Well, its been a pleasure to shoot, and when I took it apart it seemed all ok - from my limited knowledge gleaned from the forums.
