I am in need of a Canadian smith to repair my Dan Wesson 44V.

It has been jumping cylinders like crazy lately. Very annoying.

I don't know if this is something a decent revolver smith can do, or is a DW smith job.

I had the same problem with my 44V, sent it off to the DW warranty guy (MC in Van), who put S&W shims on the crane to adjust where the cylinder sits, that lasted 1/2 of a silhouette shoot. I made up some slightly thicker and much harder shims (I guess if they are wider they would be washers, really) on a friends lathe and used them, fixed the problem. To the best of my knowledge, there are NO qualified DW 'smiths in this country, and damn few people who can work a revolver properly. Good luck - dan.

As Dan indicated, it could be a real pain to have this gun fixed.
If you like, I could make you up the washers/spacers nc. Taking the crane out of the gun to install the spacers should not be a big deal. The question is, how thick would the spacers need to be, and what material did Dan’s machinist friend use for this, (drill rod and hardened)?

I have decided to try a local guy out. His first response after just looking at it for a few minutres was, "the bolt spring is too weak." He assures me he will look it all over.

I wait, fingers crossed.
