Hey fine people of CGN . Im torn between getting the Smith &Wesson E series commander and the Dan Wesson Guardian. The Dan Wesson is a little more but is it worth it ? I like the looks of both firearms and have yet to put a 1911 into the objection. What way would you guys go ?

I'm sure the smith would be a fine gun but if you can swing it, go for the Dan Wesson for sure. I think it is worth it but I am also the type of person who is prepared to pay for some degree of diminishing returns, if you know what I mean ;-)
The Dan Wesson is twice the price but, honestly, twice the gun. DW are at the top of the pile for production 1911s. They are small low production shop with an almost semi-custom shop attention to detail. To do any better than a DW you need to go to the true semi-customs like Les Baer, Nighthawk and Wilson Combat.
Now are you looking at a Guardian in .45 or 9mm? The Guardian has an aluminum frame so you want to take that into consideration when you purchase. There will definitely be a bit more felt recoil with the Guardian than a steel framed commander like the V-Bob.

I guess I am a bit of the opposite. If you have tons of money get the Wesson. If you are on a budget, get the cheaper gun (which will probably run great) and spend the difference on more ammo.
I have a bunch of reloading supplies for the 45 that need to go to good use. The missing link now is just the firearm. I hope to have it figured out by Friday . I think the S&W has a scandium frame not sure how that compares to aluminum.
Scandium is a more expensive aluminum alloy. S&W does some fancy marketing to hype it up.

Also worth consideration, the DW will retain more of its value down the road if you ever decide to sell. S&Ws are everywhere but used DWs are rare as hen's teeth.
