Dangerous game footage

I have to assume that the title is sarcasm at it's finest, but there is some great action here. I wanna bigger gun!:D

That is some intense hunting! When they kill those big hippos and they fall in the water do they actually go in there and get them out? I hear they give the meat to feed the local villages, if that's the case I see nothing wrong with this type of hunting.

Sort of makes a compelling case for a double rifle. I've never seen that many charges and quick follow-up shots. Hoky smokes.

By comparison, that guy with the bolt action sure looked "slow" with the follow-up shot on the hippo making the dash for the water- I'm sure he was workin' the bolt as fast as he could.

Speaking of hippo... If anyone thinks they can't run fast...

The tree-huggers who put that together were right about one thing. Cape Buffalo, Hippo, Elephant, lions and leopards are not endangered as a direct result of good game management.

Unfortunately, those folks apparently don't understand that game management means that the same animals have a monetary value to hunters who will spend a pile of money for the opportunity of hunting and killing said animals as trophies.

Maybe the tree-huggers would prefer it if the critters were simply poached into extinction my the locals? Wouldn't be much video of it, of course...

Thanks for the link, Dogleg!

Strange how most of the lions shot, appeared to be only wounded and appeared to escape. All the other animals were more or less one shot kills.

cheers mooncoon

FWIW, the meat is not wasted. I would expect that the support staff (trackers, skinners, casual help, etc.) would get a share of the meat and the outfitters probably have a meat-drying operation going, turning the meat into biltong (jerky) for sale as another profit centre in their business.

At least that's how it worked where we went last year. These outfitters generate tons of meat and the sale of meat is part of the business.

If they sink you wait til they bloat a bit and come to surface, then send in a tracker to hook on. Crocs like hippo, and trackers.;) All meat is saved, protein is too precious to waste. Even the guts get eaten, in most cases. It's a pretty good deal for the locals. Trophy fees go to the locals, they get employment, then you give them the meat back.

I like how the stooge that posted the video goes on a diatribe about how the hunts and rifles are illegal. And how he spells it "hypos". It's amazing that we have as much trouble as we do with goofs like this guy.

Not too fond of the video of the lions laying down being shot but i guess they wanted trophies. To each his own.
I like shooting tasty animals and many are against that too so i'm not going to judge them. You need a backup shooter for a lot of the shots made there incase you miss. Or ...... game over! lol

Looks intense most of those.

Reminds me of South Park. "Look out it's comin right for us!" But for real this time! lol

i think some of those hunters need to spend more time at the range target shooting.

some of those shots on the lions were fcking pitiful.

id love to get one of the big big buffalo over there. dont think i personaly could shoot an elephant (or pay for the tag for that matter lol) a lion might be interesting.

Lion can easily cost more than elephant, depending on where you go for each it can go either way. Buffalo is the biggest bargain considering price and success rates.

he is , its Mark Sullivan, what he does ;)

the real kick is reading the replies to the video on youtube haha, uneducated pot smoking hippies responding to that video is hilarious

yup, hes unbelievable. Nitro Express safaris.
Hes got quite a number of movies too.
Sometimes those hippo ones just look fake, even though they arent.

That has to be the coolest video I have ever seen in my life, not a word of a lie. Made my night, I even woke the wife up to check out the kill of that mega Elephant...awsome thanks Redleg :D
Only thing ever charged me was a wounded gopher and I dont think he knew I was in front of him  :D

Cheers!!

This man is what everyone means when they say "balls of steel"

If I was charged by a hippo, would I have the huevos to stand there, take aim, take the shot, close enough for it to land at my feet... and not soil myself?

I think not.
