I was thinking about getting a dar-22 with an 8" bull barrel. Ive been reading about velocity vs barrel length for a .22 and from what ive read it only loses 100 fps for the difference between a 8" barrel and a 16" barrel.
I was wondering about the functional accuracy of an 8" barrel. Any of you own one? or heard of one working well/poor? Ill be using it for my small game rifle when we hunt. If i feel like grabbing a grouse or two. and at the range for plinking.
Main reason i want the 8 inch barrel is there is already two large rifles in the truck with us and our lever .22s take up a bit of space and are harder to grab off the back seat.
So do you guys think an 8 inch barrel with decrease accuracy too much? Also ive never shot a grouse longer then 20 yards so i dont think that will be an issue. But it would be no fun if i couldnt group decent at 50 yards at the range.
