No I don't need to wine and dine this rifle, but I wanted to ask if there was a date stamp or way of figuring out the date on a P14 ERA.

Any help is appreciated!

It's a fairly narrow window, with all P-14s being produced from @1915-1917.

According to "enfield rifles" production at the 3 factories started January 1916 and 1.2 million had been produced by April 1917.

If the barrel is original, then you can date it by the barrel stamps.

Lift the rear top handguard off and there sould be a date stamped like this:
'17

Hope this helps.

A new barrel may have been fitted when these rifles were taken out of storage in Britan after the outbreak of the Second World War,....apparantly there was a sufficent spare parts for these rifles held over from WW1.....except for springs and stocks...these components were contracted out to varous companies such as RSAF Enfield,..Holland and Holland and BSA.

The US found that that the Model 1917 had a shortage of spare barrels...oders for new barrels were place with Hi-Standard Manufacturing and Johnson Automatics.
