I need a help.
I would like to change bolt spring in Remington 700 to D. Tubbs striker spring.
Can someone tell me step-by-step how to do it,
also what is your experience with that spring.
Tools are helpful. First time I took apart a 700 bolt, i didn't know about the tool that allows you to compress the spring for reasembly.........those bolt shrouds sure have some pressure behind them.........i cracked a plexiglass light cover in the ceiling, glad my head wasn't in the way.
O well, lesson learned.
you need a tool to change the bolt spring on a m700?
my local gun shop owner did it with a quarter, he pulled it back on the ledge of the counter and inserted a quarter, then unscrewed it i believe.
i could be mistaken though.

That allows access to the spring. Now you have to compress it to remove the pin that holds the cocking piece to the firing pin.
I put a Tubb titanium pin and heavy spring kit into my 700. The steel tip flew off dry firing once, and the spring was so heavy the bolt was hard to #### and felt like the lugs were running in sand. Never again. Get a Holland, or Gretan pin and spring.
