Dawson Precision Glock Sight Rear Dovetail

So I ordered and waited quite a while for some Glock Dawson precision sights, and I watched the installation video on YouTube with Mr.Dawson himself who shows how to install them. In the video he files down the sights a little bit with a needle triangle file in order to press fit them, and then applies some red loctite on the set screw. Of course, when trying to do the same myself I ended up accidentally taking too much material off and the rear sight now freely slides through the dovetail. My question is does anyone happen to know if the filing is even necessary at all or could you just hammer them into place without damaging the slide? I've installed rear dovetail glock sights before but just hammered them into place. Does Dawson precision purposely oversize their sights or something, because I've never seen any other sight manufacturers reccommend filing down their sights in order to get them to fit into the dovetail.

Dovetails are a tough one for a manufacturer to hit the right size with. Low end of tolerance and some will be loose, high end of tolerance and somebody is going to be breaking out the sledgehammer to install it.
Sounds like you hit both ends of the spectrum with one piece!
If it is just a touch loose, I might think about Loctite Stud & Bearing retainer.
By "a touch loose" I mean slip fit, bit not any discernable play. If it's rattling in the slot....
I have had to adjust most dovetails. Usually a kiss with a file is all that's needed. Any more than that, I often throw it in the mill.
