Looking for a little help here, leave it up the experts here to point me in the right direction

Bought an STI Edge 40 for IPSC. Only came with one mag, pretty stupid of me to assume that extra mags would be readily available
Took a few weeks but my local dealer tracked down four more mags - all STI

The new mags were trouble right from the start. They would not hold 10 rounds although they are clearly 10 rnd mags
After some work I was able to get 10rnds in 4 of the five. Left them for a week hoping to work the spring in a little

Long story short, the mags with 10rnds cannot be loaded in the gun without ridiculous pressure, and in the middle of an IPSC match this is obviously not ideal

STI people have agreed to take them back. Its a shame that new mags dont work in the gun they were designed for.
I do not have any skills/knowledge in making these work, not much online about it that I could find
If someone has experience please tell me how to fix them before I send them back

Second choice and the better one from what I have read is to use Dawson Precision mags. I think this is the way to go but of course Dawson does not ship to Canada or ship to a US address when your billing address is in Canada.

SO does anyone know of a dealer anywhere in Canada that stocks 140mm 40 STI Dawson Precision Mags ??

Any help is appreciated

First of all 140mm mags are not allowed in ipsc standard division because your 2011 will not fit into the box with them. You need 126mm. Second STI has stopped exporting their high cap 40 mags to Canada where Sean from Freedom Ventures used to pin them to 10 rounds here in Canada. The new mags that they do export which are thin in the middle are garbage. You're best bet is to find a dealer that still has some of the good mags (maybe double tap) or find some used ones. I just sold 6 of mine cause I bought SVI mags for my STI with a SVI grip. Good luck.

Excellent info, thank you. So much to learn. I currently shoot a LTD Custom Tanf but bought the Edge on impulse. The Tanfo is an awesome piece, everything works all the time including the 6 mags I bought with it, just assumed mags from the company who made the gun would work IN the gun.

I have a message into Double Tap but so far no reply. If anyone else knows where I could find Dawson or older style STI please let me know. I suppose I could start calling all the Sponsors, thought this would be quicker

Hey sorry to hijack your thread there Flagswipe but carsmovies I'm curious did you use the aluminum svi grips on your sti? If not which ones did you use, how did they fit, did you fit them yourself or have someone else do it and if so who. Sorry lots of questions. I'm asking cause I have a nighthawk 2011 that I'm considering either re-contouring the grips on it or getting some other grips, the ones on it are fairly thick.

As far as my experience goes with STI mags I did pick up a couple from Freedom Ventures with the skinny tube (in 9mm) and they've actually worked really well for me. Easy to load and feed reliably. The one bit of advice I do have for you Flagswipe is if you're in the market for used STI mags and can't find any in Canada you could look on the Brian Enos forums, have them shipped to you (disassembled) and pin them yourself (if you're able to find someone in the US who's willing to ship them to you).

I see the mag problem with sti edge has been going on for a year. Just got our edge all done up to be a race gun. Spent a lot of money and the mags are all crap. FTF 40% of the time. Got 6 mags from STI and they are all equally bad. What a joke!!
