I was checking race guns as usual to give me soem heads up on my project and fell on this gem.
It appears this product has been released around the second week of august this year, I have totally missed that. It'd sure be a step up to my little magwell. But my expectations to find such unit in Canada are low :(
Anyone ever seen them in action?

Well who would've tought, my skeptissism was wrong this time, I got it :)

steel mainspring housing & aluminum magwell with plastic insert

thats the manufacturer flier (Dawson precision), but couldn't buy directly, they dont ship to Canada
got it from Speed shooters international, 110$US including shipping, at that day's rate it cost me 118CAN. Seems expensive but when you look around, it's quite the bargain. My Ed Brown maxiwell (concealment magwell+mainspringhousing) ended up costing me 111$CAN and multiple headaches. Another big magwell option is the SVI single stack, but couldnt find it cheaper than 150CAN +taxes and shipping. There is also techwell at 149,99US$ but it's a magwell usign special grips and I didn't want to change grips
My pistol is at the smith right now, so I'm eager to fit this one in.

oh and I got a free screwdriver with it, it serves absolutely no purpose in the installation of the MSH/magwell, but hey :) freeeebie

i only shoot 10 rounders

BUT
the magwell has a notch to accept USGI spec mags, if that can answer your question
I'm installing it tomorrow, I'll update with pictures

Here's how it looks :

There is also a 2 piece magwell/mainspring housing that EGW made some time ago, similar to the OP.

Hmmm, around here somewhere, have to dig it out and pimp my Nork.

what grips are those? nice, very nice!
VZ alien grips, originally desert sand, I repainted them black because they were getting so dirty

Kinda like this? that's the one I used to have, but figure it in stainless steel with a chainlink pattern:

Nice, but horribly ### at the same time. What a niche those race guns have...

I like em :)
(mind you that used to be a SPARTAN :))
I used to think they looked ###, but everything is so functional, starting with the gas pedal. without it i found myself constantly popping the slide stop out because of my thumb position :ninja:

Yep, found it, exactly like that, except mine has plain checkered 20 lpi back. The magwell and backstrap dovetail together with a hex head screw up through the bottom. Very nice workmanship.

Apparently they had to make them as 2 piece because someone has a patent on a one piece part.

I use them on my Glocks, its awesome, I LOVE the replaceable feed lips, so when it get too many dings and scratched, or pits, just swap out the feeder lining, and good as new :)

So SOLID and i find it really helps with the grip. I love there fiber front sight blades also, SO much thinner that normal one out in the market, it really helps for those who shoot 50 yards and up :)

I'm not a fan of the toilet bowl magwell myself; I much prefer the S&A style, similar to the second one posted.

it's better for concealement and in terms of 1911 collectibility, but the salad bowl magwell is better for action games :)

Oh, I know what they're for... I just hate how they look.

I've run a few stages with an STI Edge, and the toilet bowl does it's job to be certain.
