That is a #4 in 303, with a Parker Hale peep sight.

On the first day we were issued several 48 round boxes of ammo. It was special ammo with purple bands painted on each round. This was to ensure that everyone was using the same issue ammo.

Each province had a clubhouse. There were rows of tents behind each clubhouse. Each tent had two beds. The quartermaster issued us sheets, blankets, pillow and a wash basin.

Entry fee for a week of shooting was about $85 (as I recall) and it was not difficult to win back that in prize money.

Interesting facts, figuring you only made about $1/hr in those days so about half a month worth of wages, but free ammo, an even playing field ammo/rifle wise and a place to sleep, snore, eat and party for a week with your shooting buddies. Team shooting would have been better and super competitive since your all together and in close proximity to the competition, maybe some side bets too I would think and for the King's medals back then too, wow.

I shot those matches in 1962.
I bought a No.4 during the matches from one of our NCOs. $15. The PH5C was more. My brother had it rebarrelled by Nels Colville in Winnipeg, and shot it in '64. I got it back from him a few years ago. Hadn't been fired since then.

He still has those same glasses. But I am thinking that shooting jacket might be a little on the snug side. Shooting jackets do tend to shrink from year to year.
