The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Bisson of Cochrane, AB as Captain of the Canadian F-Class team for the 2017 F-Class World Championships, being held at Connaught Ranges in Ottawa.

Eric began competitive shooting at the age of fifteen. He shot small bore and air rifle and was very successful as a member of the Alberta Team. He soon began to travel and made the Junior National Team; and in the following year he made the Canadian Senior National Team, and ultimately a spot on the Olympic training team. In meeting his wife Heather, starting a family and a construction business competitive shooting fell to the wayside. Eric still continued to be an avid hunter during this period and even began guiding big game hunts.

About 5 years ago Eric decided to join the Rosebud Shooting Club and it was there that he got hooked on long range full bore shooting. He was soon in the pursuit of building competitive rifles, learning as much as he could about precision reloading and reading the wind. He has achieved success on provincial, national and international levels; Eric has won several provincial titles in the F-Open class and is the current 2013 Western Canadian F-Open champion. Eric was captain and shooting member of the winning team in both 2012 and 2013 at the Western Canadian Championships, and proudly represented Canada as a member of the Canadian 2013 FCWC team in Raton, NM.

Any F-Class shooters interested in being considered for the 2017 FCWC team should contact Eric at fcwc2017captain@gmail.com for further information on the selection program.

Congratulations Eric, and best of luck!

Scott

I strongly encourage anyone with even a passing interest to contact Eric and get on board early. Yes 2017 seems far away but it will be here before you know it.

I know Eric will have calender full of team training opportunities across canada for those who come on board. Even if you decide not to follow through to 2017 you will certainly learn a great deal and become a better F class shooter no matter what level you start at.

For anyone who decides to upgrade equipenment as time goes on it will take one or two years to scrounge everything. Far better to start now and spend three eyears training with the gun and equipment you will use at Connaught than to leave it till 2016 and hope for the best.

Recovering from 2013 and looking forward to 2017!!! Glad to have Eric on board as the Captain of the 2017 F-Class Team.

As mentioned, start looking at your equipment and start to gather your components for your competition needs for the next few years.

See you on the range!

Thank you guys for all your kind words. I look forward to this great adventure, and the huge challenge that comes with this job. This job can't successfully be done by only one person, so will be calling on some of you to take on some leading roles in the development of this team. Many have already stepped up to the plate, and to those i thank you very much.
Our previous Captain, coaches and top Brass have set the bar and layed out a solid foundation for the 2017 team. We will build on that, and set our sights on Gold medal performances.
Information will be out in the next couple of weeks for the proposed layout of this team, as well as training and commitment expectations. Stay tuned, and please send me a quick email if you are interested or have any questions.
Cheers
Eric

Will this "training and commitment expectations" be posted somewhere to see if an interest is sparked?
tks

Yes, as i just mentioned i will have something posted here within a week for all to see.
As for trying to "spark some interest", I am not at all worried about that. We had a full team at the 2013 Worlds, and with a strong performance from these teams and individuals, the buz is already on. Even at this early stage in our quest for a strong 2017 team, I have nearly 40 individuals that will be in for consideration. We will likely continue to take names until about March 2015. If you are interested, please send me an email at fcwc2017captain@gmail.com

Cheers
Eric
