Daniel Chisholm wins the Governor General's at the DCRA.
299/300. I don't have the exact V count right now but he had one more V than the second place finisher.

Yep TR. Shoulda specified.
He carried his Presidents score into the final which was 150/150 and shot at 300, 500, 600 yards, 10 shots at each distance. Then in the final shot a 75/75 at 800m and a 74/75 at 900m, 15 shots at each distance.

Leo D'Amour won the F Class Governor General's.

These are exceptional accomplishments, especially considering the individuals concerned. Daniel has not been a "TR for ever" shooter and his eyesight is not the best. Daniel is also an organizer with several positions. Leo has had many health issues and the fact that he even shoots, shoots down all the lame excuses heard about not shooting. He's a fine man who has done prehaps as much as anvbody for shooting. He was first on the CAD Rifle Team to Bisley in 1951 and has donated dozens of rifles to clubs and individuals. He had a distinguished carred in the RCAF, then was a manager with Rolls Royce. He is a loyal Quebec-Canadian!

Good guys.

Here's a couple of pictures of Daniel after his win:

The second last UK is George Harper, NCRRA, the next Canadian Bisley team adjudant. Never was introduced to the young lady, but noticed her throughout the week.

Gov's

Congrats, Dan.

Appears you were using my favorite action. What
is going on with those green knees???

I may be stuck in East Central Illinois, but I still
watch. Also recognized a few in the background.
Jeff, Geoff, John Marshall. If I forgeot anyone I
know, forgive me. It has been a few years......

I still wear my RNBRA cap with great pride!

Best to all.
Bill Wylde

The Geoff would be Woodman. J. Marshall doesn't show up on my screen.

Bill Wylde, the Bill Wylde of .223 fame? How are you doing? Still shooting?

Regards,

Peter

The nice looking lady is Laurie Hearn from Newfoundland. I shot with her on target #35 for the 900m stage of the Gov. General's final. She's one helluva fine shooter (on the 2007 Canadian Palma Team!), and a helluva wind coach too. You would not believe just how fast she breaks great shots - truly a pleasure to coach her. And she's still under 25. We sure are lucky to have her. She'll be shooting the Atlantic Championships with us this year (5-6-7 Sept, CFB Gagetown).

John Marshall isn't in the second picture with the champagne bottle. He is in the first picture, he's the front right carrier of the chair. Everyone carrying the chair was a Maritimer, plus two Newfs (Geoff and Laurie). John stayed for the prize ceremony, something which he is infamous for never attending; in all my years shooting I think he has never attended one. He was pretty thrilled that a Maritimer won the Gov's, he says that the last time this happened was by Arnold Parks in 1975 (to be confirmed). I teased him that it was interesting that this is what it took to get him to stick around in Ottawa after the last shot of the Bisley Agg is fired!

Goggle, thanks for the photos. It was nice meeting you this year, and talking about all sorts of fun things (even airplanes!). You sure had a great shoot this year, especially your Bisley Qualifier 74v7 @ 800m and 72v10 @ 900m - wow!) I think you've shot yourself out of Sharpshooter class and straight up into Expert for sure.

BillW, we sure miss you at the DCRA matches. I was indeed using your favourite action (Musgrave), a 30" MacLennan barrel, and ammo that is a bit of a story in itself for another day. The green knees are from my leaving my shooting mat at home this year, which worked out well, both in dry and wet conditions. The true secret though was in my infamous felt-lined green rubber boots, for which I have received considerable heck over the past number of years. I wear them to brew, I wear them to shoot, I wear them to snowblow - is there anything that they can't do?

CONGRATULATIONS !! Daniel Chisholm! ----- an amazing feat to out score a fellow like our very own Geoff Woodman ! Proud to call him a buddy both on & off the Range .

Congratulations Geoff !! -----------------according to the scores, third place to a count back ain't No loss. Hope you don't bash yourself too much!

Had the honor to meet Leo D'Amour some years ago , he offered some good advice on Musgraves , & as " Peter Dobson " noted WE were fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of his generosity, with two TR's which he donated to our NPRA , in order to entice new shooters to the Assn.
A big Congratulations Leo, on winning "F" Class !!! Glad to see you are BACK , in a BIG way !!!!!

Doing no competitive shooting these dayz, Peter. In fact, doing very little shooting at all. Life in general, and being a grandfather, has gotten in the way. I truly miss shooting and my old Canadian friends.

I can only imagine the ammo story, Daniel.-:) And those robber bootz.......Do you sleep in them?

My old Musgrave F-Class rifle has not been fired since Y2K and the grandfather of the tubeguns (you shot it in 22-250) is now a 6BR (2001) that remains untested.

Again, congratulations on a fine showing.
