DCRA No.319 at Switzers auction

Agreed especially for the converted auto rifles and the 12.5 rifles ...,might be a great place to sell my vickers and my bren

It went for $1300CAD, but IMHO would have gone for more if that scope hadn't been fitted.

Yeah, no doubt. I thought there may have been a bit more interest though. Watched a PCMR Winchester go for a nice penny too.

It was my first firearm auction...it was overwhelming at times
Personally, I can't justify spending the amount of money some of these firearms sell for, only to sit in a safe.

But it was fun to watch. I wanted to see what the mummy wrapped No4 mk2 would go for. I'd give my left nut for one of those.....but again, can't justify leaving it the safe nor would I want to take it out into the elements.

I fully understand how you feel about the "mummy wrap" No4 MkII rifles.

When they came into our local gunshop, I bought ten of them. At $125 each, with all accessories, many people thought I was foolish. I bought new unissued No4 MkI* Long branch rifles in the same quantity, at $90 each.

I don't have any of them left. I only shot one of the 1950 LB rifles and kept the rest properly stored and still packed in cosmo.

When I did sell them, the house needed a refurb, they paid for all of it.

Same with the No4 MkII rifles. I decided to pave the driveway and build a two-car garage, with a 13x26 machine shop for my retirement. These brought an even better return on investment and covered most of the cost of the foundation, electrical, and Home Depot Kit.

Even Garands never returned that well.

I was interested in the Boer Mauser, but it went higher than my limit... Did get some odds 'n' ends.

Yeah, I won a no4 mk1 stock, a Savage marked bayonet, a cheap scope and some hardcover books :)

What did you end up with?

I picked up a few mags that I was missing for my WW2 pistols to make them into complete rigs. I miss the pre-pistol ban days, everything seemed to go for cheaper and you could still get some good deals

I noticed a few firearms are being sent to Iceland.

Pretty much watched the entire live auction, I could not believe the revenue generated

I cannot believe it either, they really are making a killing. They are really good at what they do though. I have only had a problem once when I won a Luger rig with holster but the holster was not meant to be included but was in the photos. I received it without the holster and let them know and they apologized and let me set how much I wanted refunded. I also got my items within a few days of the auction ending which is pretty awesome.

The one time I won at the other major gun auction they charged me $50 to ship a small slip of paper that I won (It was a old Mauser insert for a C96 advertisement) When I got the invoice and emailed them about the absurd charge they basically told me to get bent and I never spent another dime there

I was going to have my items shipped, but ended up getting some hardcover books that likely weigh a ton :)
I'll be heading to Bancroft tomorrow.

I sold a rifle which went for 3x my estimate and I sent along two bags of misc scope bases and rings, Switzer's somehow identified them and paired them up and they all sold for way more than my expectations.

They really earned their commission. The misc stuff had been hanging around my places for years.
