Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere ... but here goes ... the DCRA is looking for some quality feedback on the Fullbore Nationals held at Connaught each year. If you have some thoughts, opinions or constructive feedback, please let them know.

Oh yes - they are looking to see responses by Oct 22.

Cheers.

No offense, but I think they'd get a better response if they made it a web-based form.

People are typically lazy, and can't be bothered with multi-step processes.

Agreed.

Mind you, if you need a survey to make yourself understand that 5 grand in travel/accommodations and nearly a grand in entry fees is simply not an option for most shooters, then I'm not sure that the results will make a difference.

yeah. Loosing the camping option must have hurt. The close scheduling of the Spirit of America matches seem to have cut down on US attendance as well, if the conversations I had w/ the few US shooters I met is any indication.

It's fast becoming a sport of Kings isn't it, or at least a sport for the ones blessed with a snivel servant type pension. I wonder what's about to happen after the international financial genius' bugger up the 147 dollars I had saved.

I'm still planning on going to the CFRC in '09 but the way things appear to be heading, that might just might be the only major I get to. Going south might not fit the budget this winter either. With the Canadian dollar dropping faster than a hookers drawers in Ft McMoney, the US shooters may attend in droves again.

In the survey I think Betty Ann tried to keep finances and personal situations at bay with the statement about national scope and that we (the DCRA) have no control over travel costs. While there's not much they can do for us in that respect, it's still in my opinion, the biggest single denominator in the desicion making process regarding attendance. I don't think many of us has a problem with the actual CFRC program other than the differential in enrty fees compared to what we'd pay on a regional or even US match entry. Having said that, I think we've all spent a lot more for a lot less, just not annually.

Cheers, Glen

Maybe the time hs come to embrace a western, central and eastern region and conduct regional matches with nationals coming every 2 or 3 years?

"...cut down on US attendance..." Our stupid gun laws, high gas prices, the exchange rate and the U.S. economy did that.

Gentlemen, regarding more service rifle, I believe there is substantial activity at Connaught for this discipline immediately prior to the CFRC at the National Service Condition Championships. Mixing Service Rifle and Fullbore competitions probably wouldn't work. I don't think I'd like to compete in F Class with a C7 and no way would I try doing Service or Precision with a long, heavy, bolt action single shot.

Cheers, Glen

The idea is to get the DCRA thinking more about service rifle and to promote it as a shooting sport. After all it is what the DCRA was started for in the first place. This year there where only 9 civilian shooters at NSCC, the DCRA is doing a terrible job of promoting and fostering service shooting right now.
